Consider Insurance for that Special
Day and Special Gift
Planning a wedding? By the time the big day arrives, you’ll want everything to be perfect. Unfortunately, such a special event can add up to a lot of potential mishaps beyond your control. What if the caterer backs out at the last minute? The wedding dress is scorched? The reception is to be outdoors, and a Nor’easter rolls in?
Insure that all goes as planned
Your peace of mind will increase exponentially if you’ve purchased wedding insurance well in advance. A number of insurance companies offer coverage of various kinds. One recently-introduced wedding policy from the Travelers Insurance Company is the most comprehensive we’ve seen. It addresses almost all eventualities, including deposits forfeited to no-show vendors, lost or damaged rings, damaged gifts, ruined photos, even postponements because of weather or sudden illness.
You can also add liability coverage in case a guest is injured or causes damage to property. If you make E&L a part of your plans, we can advise you on your best wedding insurance choices. Just call or stop by the office for further information.
Special Insurance for Special Gifts
Ask us about insuring valuables you may have received for the holidays or for another special occasion. Don’t assume that that costly new watch or ring will be covered under your homeowner’s policy if damaged, lost or stolen. Most policies include only limited coverage for all your jewelry and other valuables– typically about $1,500. And if a stone falls out of its setting and is lost, you’re out of luck.
Fortunately, you can tailor your policy to protect valuables at relatively low cost. A professional appraisal and bill of sale are required to determine the amount of coverage you need. Check with your E&L customer service representative on the best way to ensure peace of mind.
